The whole hilltop, just for your people. Cerrito Encantado is a private group vacation rental near Playa Chacala and Rincon de Guayabitos, in the hill village of Altavista, Nayarit. Book it and the entire hill is yours: two houses, five bedrooms, the salt water pool, the outdoor kitchen with its wood-fired pizza oven, two open-air yoga decks, and a view that runs down the valley to the ocean.

This is the place for the reunion everyone actually shows up to. Kids in the pool while the pizza oven gets going. Grandparents on the round house patio watching the coast turn pink. Cousins claiming rooms, someone stringing a hammock, the dogs working the crowd for belly rubs. Fifteen of you sleep over; up to fifty can come for the day. On green season nights the lightning over the valley is better than television, and one lunar eclipse a horse wandered up to watch with our guests.

Getting down here is part of the arrival. Standard cars park up top on the main road and everyone walks down in about a minute; returning guests swear the hill keeps them young. 4x4s with good tires and a little nerve come all the way down.
