Cerrito Encantado is a private multi-level property in the hills of Altavista, Nayarit, about 90 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta airport. When you book a buyout, every casita, bedroom, patio, and the salt-water pool belongs to your group and nobody else. No neighbors on the other side of a wall. No strangers at the pool. Just your people, the birds, and the breeze moving through the banana trees.
Who books the whole hill
Retreat and mastermind hosts. Writing retreats, business intensives, creative workshops, wellness weekends. Two covered open-air spaces work beautifully for group sessions, movement, or morning meditation, and the patio above La Casa Redonda has a panoramic view that resets a room full of tired brains in about four minutes.
Families and reunions. Two separate casitas plus a bedroom building means grandparents, parents, and cousins each get their own corner, then everyone comes back together at the outdoor kitchen and pool.
Where everyone sleeps
Sleeps up to 15 across three buildings:
- La Casa Redonda: private casita with queen bed, full bathroom, kitchen, and TV. The rooftop patio has the best view on the property. Sleeps 2.
- La Casa Chilam: private casita with queen bed and full-sized sofabed, full bathroom, kitchen, and TV. Sleeps 4.
- Los Cuartos: a two-story building with two bedrooms and a full shared bathroom on each floor. Two queen beds and five twin beds across the four rooms. Sleeps 9.
That's four full bathrooms with showers across the property, plus three more outdoor toilets with sinks near the pool and gathering areas. With a full group, nobody waits in line.
Hosts love this layout because it prices cleanly: two private casitas for your VIPs or co-hosts, shared rooms for everyone else.
Meals, your way
The outdoor kitchen overlooks the pool and the ocean beyond: wood-fired stove, wood-fired pizza oven, plancha, BBQ, fridge, microwave, air fryer, and enough tables and chairs for the whole group. Cook together, bring your own chef, or ask us to connect you with a local cook. Both casitas also have full indoor kitchens.

The honest part
Cerrito Encantado sits down a steep private entrance. Most guests park on the main road and walk down, about a minute on a rocky path, and we'll happily carry the luggage. The property itself is built on several levels with stairs throughout. The nearest beaches are a 20 to 30 minute drive, so a vehicle is recommended and we can help arrange transport.
If your group wants to walk out the door onto sand, this isn't your venue. If your group wants privacy, quiet, and a place where the schedule slows down on its own, it is. Retreat hosts tell us the distance is the point: everyone stays present instead of scattering.
