Arriving at Cerrito Encantado from Puerto Vallarta Airport can be done using different transportation options. Here's a clear guide to help you choose the most suitable method for your journey! Please remember that Puerto Vallarta is in the Central Standard Time Zone. In fact, most popular beach cities in Nayarit like Salyulita, Punta de Mita, and San Pancho all use CST to accommodate travelers. Please plan accordingly when you're arriving or leaving Altavista.
There are two ways to drive to Altavista from Puerto Vallarta: the highway and the Autopista (toll road). The Autopista has two tolls, one at Bucerias (approximately $223 MXN*) and another at La Peñita, approximately $63 MXN*. We generally recommend taking the highway unless there is heavy traffic, in which case it's advisable to take the Autopista and exit at El Monteon. 🛑 If you enter Cerrito Encantado Altavista in Google Maps, they will tell you there is an exit at Altavista, this is wrong!! Please take the El Monteon where there is no fee to exit or exit at El Tonino where they will charge you another toll to exit. (Above is the map of the Autopista Route, however note that the Map is wrong and you can't exit at Altavista).
*Toll prices subject to change.
Uber is available in Puerto Vallarta and can take you to the top of the main road leading to Cerrito Encantado. However, please note that if they are driving a low clearance vehicle we recommend they don't drive down the road. The prices for Uber rides are subject to the app's rates.
You can take a taxi directly from the airport to Cerrito Encantado. Taxi prices start at $2,000 MXN, but it's important to remember that rates may vary. A helpful tip: If you exit the airport, turn left, go over the bridge, and get a taxi outside the restaurant, prices may start at around $1,600 pesos. Please note that taxis are unable to drive down to the property.
To take the bus, you can first hire a taxi to take you to the Centro Commercial. The taxi fare from the airport is approximately $300-500 MXN, while crossing the bridge will cost around $100 MXN.
Once you reach the Centro Commercial, look for the Pacifico Bus line. Purchase a ticket to La Peñita de Jaltemba, which should cost around $160 MXN per person. The bus journey from Puerto Vallarta to La Peñita takes approximately 90 minutes, with several stops along the way. The bus driver will announce the correct stop.
Upon arrival at La Peñita, cross the street and find a taxi to take you to Altavista. The taxi fare to Altavista is typically between $200-$300 MXN.

If you're driving back to Puerto Vallarta, we recommend leaving with ample time. You can either take the Highway or the Autopista (Toll Road) to get back to Puerto Vallarta. We recommend taking the Highway unless there is a lot of traffic in which case we recommend taking the Autopista and entering at El Monteon.
